Piping Design

This discipline is involved in the preparation of piping layouts and arrangements of technical and accommodation spaces on board all types of vessels and in all levels of detail.

All activities are performed either in close cooperation with the structural discipline or with third parties (such as yards and other engineering- or installation companies).

During both the conceptual and basic engineering phase, arrangement specialists can perform feasibility studies with respect to ergonomic and operational requirements and in accordance with health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.

In the detailed engineering phase, piping design (including pipe stress calculations, and supports design) can be performed in combination with detailed accommodation and installation layouts. For bent pipes, the pipes are designed in accordance with the specifications and constraints of the yard’s (or subcontractors) bending machine(s).
